Welcome to the Room 23 Sandbox

This website has been created so that you can learn about making a website page on wikidot.com.

From the desk of Mr. Walker

Some of my students were good at following the rules I established for this website. They have been allowed to continue to add to their pages. I am also going to keep their pages here for as long as I can. My students are now Lafayette alumni and are going off to various middle schools. I am pleased with the work they put into these webpages and I am proud to share them with anyone who comes to our site. I think they all had fun. Thanks for visiting!

Class of 2007-2008

  • Highlight it, then copy it by pressing control (ctrl) and 'c' at the same time.
  • Then, go back to the sandbox and open your page.
  • Click edit.
  • Type [* and then paste your URL.
  • To paste your URL, simply press control (ctrl) and 'v'.
  • Then add a ]
  • In the end it should look like [*http://www.yourwebpage here.com]

Go to Mr. Walker's Class
Click on the edit button below to see how the link to Mr. Walker's Class website is made.

This would be a good way to suggest website links that Mr. Walker might add to our class website. If you know of a website that you would like to share, particulary if it's helpful to you as a student, put a link to it on your page and let Mr. Walker know.

Playing with text

If you look at this paragraph in edit mode, you'll see some of the syntax that is used to modify text. For example, you can put words in italics or in bold. You can also underline text, which you might do for titles of books like Two-Minute Mysteries. For math, you might want to be able to write exponents, like 23. For science, you might want to learn how to use subscript for things like H2O. You might want to highlight text in a different way with color.

Here are some other things you need to know:

  • To edit a page, go to the page and click the Edit button. You can change everything in the main area of your page. The Wikidot language is easy to learn but powerful.
  • You can attach images and other files to any page, then display them and link to them in the page.
  • Every Wikidot page has a history of edits, and you can undo anything. So feel secure, and experiment.
